Comparatively speaking Samsung devices are far easier to root. Like all devices they are unfriendly when you flash incorrect ROMs.

Remember to nandroid 1st. Remember to copy that over and keep it safe. From there its like the HTC.

I always keep a nandroid, ROM .zip and kernel on my SD card along with the titanium backup.

Don't know if Odin is recommended with the S3 but get it and the relevant files. Keep them on your PC along with kies.

    Good luck guy.

What's Odin? That's not something you told me about before.

No Odin is for Sammy devices. Can flash .tar of radios/system/ROMs. Isn't command line like adb.

I have only needed it when I initially rooted the S2 and when I hosed it. Occasionally when I flashed radios that were .tar instead of .zip. Same for kernels.

Its not essential, yet. If you bork it could be useful.

Has link and brief explanation. Think there's a tutorial as well.

Great comments Jay, I have bricked my s2 a few times, some easy to recover from, some took awhile. The nice thing is that if you can get to bootloader, even if you are stuck in it you can feel confident that recovery is within grasp. I have found that if I use Odin and do a recovery tar, then I can get into recovery and do a wipe and reload a rom from there and it usually gets me back again.

ah you are missing out del, I have changed rom's 4 times this week, tweaking the one I want. Once you get the hang of it things go quick and smooth. After next week I won't have so much time on my hands and I can get a life

    Baby and Mom are perfect.
Dr is apparently nuts. Ultrasound shows a healthy little girl waiting to pop out any day.
