Now Sprint and HTC need to provide an opt out for users.

Carrier IQ provides a service, and is mostly upfront about it. The initial beef was the threats made to TrevE who exposed it. Sprint and HTC (and any carrier on other smartphones/oz) need to be forth coming and explain why this software was hidden and why there is virtually no opt out.

I don't think at this time anything sinister is going on, but the capabilities are there for this to keylog, and that's scary. Worse is it can do it from root, with the user having no idea.
