    Not sure on this one.
Doesn't make sense. It'd need an apk given privileges. The end user would have to install it or their phone have it installed remotely. If it's pushed they'd have to have carrier help.

Another reason to root if true

Yep, rooting gets rid of all that "unknown" bloat ... which could very well include crap like that. With all this hoopla (and exageration thrown in) I think it's possible. What can we do ? Nothing like personal communication as it was meant to be. Word of mouth. Unless we´re heading back to the 1930's and start doubting our neighbour or cousin. Who does he/she work for?
    Damn sorry state of affairs.

Well a warrant isn't needed to access location metadata. I would assume this requires warrants as I see it just like bugging a room or wiretapping.

I think what is starting to concern me is the broad categories of data being mined. It wouldn't take much t to trigger someone's curiosity. See email I sent you Del.

I've been researching ways of limiting data access on my device but in the end it really doesn't matter. The carriers have most of the data, and I can't afford a vpn for surfing.

Again. As I mentioned a while back openness isn't necessarily a good thing.
