That makes sense, even in the US. There is a closeout store chain here called Big Lots. There is some cheap tablet in the Big Lots ad each week.

I thought we already had this in the PlayBook. A buddy bought one a Radio Shack for $168.

I think with the advent of Google wanting to launch affordable tablets, the prices are going to be dragged down across the board. Even today's top end products. Since the net books didn't take off as expected, the tablets will fill the void. It will be interesting to follow. I don't want to sound like a braggart, but since I acquired the Air last week I have no use for my iPad2. If this happens with all the notebooks around (Asus, Toshiba, Dell etc) then the tablets will have a hard time. And especially mid ranged Droids. The prices have to drop to be able to compete.

I'd assume this means the market would expand....the Isheep will still be buying 3million iPads on launch day in 2016.

What they are not mentioning is that low cost is not the same as crappy device, with crappy specs.A good example of this is what happened last year and the surge of $99-160 "android tablets", which ran pre-2.0, or 2.0-2.1, and had a battery life of 2-3 hours. They were completely useless since just typing spiked the CPU to 50%+
