So, if you bought a Droid x for $200 between Nov and Jan on a 2 yr contract and turn it in and get a $200 gift card, then purchase the iPhone 4 at full retail $650 or $750. Aren't you still paying full retail price for it and locked into a 2 yr contract? You can buy it full price w/o contract. Not seeing VZN doing you a favor here.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like that great of a deal - - Would make more sense to just buy the iPhone and sell the Droid X on Ebay. I just checked and they are going for $350 give or take there . . .

You would still be under contract from the Droid X even if you sold it on eBay, but it would save you some money towards the iPhone 4.

They will buy back your phone, and then sell it as a cheaper refurb, and maybe sign someone else to a 2 year contract with the same phone.

Seems like a smart play for Verizon.

Why even ponder so much about this almost one year old phone when the new iPhone (5) is right around the corner? Just saying...
What's the matter? CIA's got you pushing too many pencils?

^^^Hey I always sell mine and make a profit out of it. I guess the question at hand is why buy a ford escort (android) and expect it to resell at its original purchase price when you have a Ferrari (iphone) which will leave you some money after upgrading to the new one

    Exactly!

It may be almost a year old, but it is still relevant. Well, at least to the Verizon folk anyway.

I may sell my iPhone on Ebay and buy a house.

Plus get retail price for the iPhone and another 2 year contract out of the customer

And how much are they willing to give you for that iphone 4 when you return it to get your Droid X back? Thats exactly what will happen when people find out it cant do half the things the DX can do.

I highly doubt that. Most people end up purchasing a android phone because they want a iPhone like device but need or want verizon. I don't think we'll see a everyone on verizon turn there phone in but motorola I'm sure wasn't pleased to here the announcement on the iPhone. It will hurt sales of androidon verizon, that's just plain to see. maybe we'll benefit from this and get better rates. I doubt it but one can hope.
