iPhone is and will be able to be used on Solavei, which in essence is a "prepaid" plan, so yeah, there definitely deals being struck.

I can't understand Apple's beef with prepaid plans. Out here 90% of iPhone sales for Vodafone, Optimus and TMN are prepaid plans. Albeit with a 2 year plan. The cheapest prepaid averages 25Euros per month and the selling price of an iPhone is discounted as well. Sheesh!

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0; XBLWP7; ZuneWP7))

The main issue with prepaid in the US is its association with gang members in seedy neighborhoods. If I drive through those rough parts of town here, I see those cheap cell phone shops, Boost cards for sale, etc.

Apple probably prefers not being associated with that element.

It is odd that Apple don't make a budget line. If they did they would destroy most of the Competition in a flash. The BlackBerry sells extremely well in their budget lines (even I have a 9320). However, saying that with the rabid frenzy some people show when the whiff of a new Apple goes by why would they want too.
