    Disappointed with BB Tour

Just got my Tour from the FedEx guy, and I absolutely LOVE the phone with the exception of the battery door. It's got way too much give, it feels cheap and broken. I'm not even activating the phone, I'm heading to Verizon when I get off to get a replacement..

I just don't understand how these phones are so expensive, but always lacking somehow in the hardware.

I have the same issue with my 8120 I bought 14 months ago. It will fall off if it takes a hard enough fall (which it has numerous times since I have had it), or sometimes when I am just holding it in my hand and using the keyboard or trackball.

This is not an uncommon complaint with the last several models of Blackberry. My 8900 door easily shifts but has never fallen off.

Well from what I've read on crackberry, some people have the problem and some people don't.

I'm hoping that the first new box they open to exchange it works, otherwise they will be opening many boxes lol.

Crackberry has a fix for it. All you need is a piece of NexCare medical tape (like you use to tape on gauze), the size of a quarter and cut in half. Take off your batter door. Right below the battery, above the SD card and to the right of the SIM you'll see an indentation. Put the piece of tape there, but stretch it out. You'll have a bettery door that doens't move. You can color it with a black Sharpie if you don't want to see it too.

Double side tape. That's what I used on my 8900

As much money people spend on these devices, putting tape on it is out of the question. Take it back and get another one.

It's going to happen again. May not be as bad when you first get it, but it'll get there so it's pointless to take it back.

Cost is there yes, but if you don't like to pay for the product you get and it still has some flaws (LIKE EVERYTHING DOES, especially electronics) then don't pay for it.

I mean, come on people, if a company made a phone that was "PERFECT", as in had EVERY feature consumers wanted in it and all that, sure we'd all go out and buy it, then they'd go out of business becuase nobody would want a new phone if they developed a new phone unless it had all those features in it. But if the phone is perfect, then why develop a new one?

Sure the Tour has some flaws. If you don't like the little jiggle in the battery door, do the tape fix, put a skin on it, or a case like the OtterBox and you won't have to worry about it.

If you're NOT willing to do it, try taking it back but I bet they'll only exchange it once, maybe twice since nothing is really 'wrong' in the functionality of the phone.

Or DON'T buy it, or complain about it.

Man, what you said is so true. It is just like people, they have their flaws and they are not perfect. Nothing is ever perfect and nothing will ever be perfect. Just like he said, if they made the phone everyone liked with every feature they wanted, then hell the business would go out of business.
They want to keep the consumers hanging so they can keep making them buy new phones.

My Tour does not have a loose battery door. Nothing on my phone is loose.

There is always someone, somewhere who will complain about something.......That's life.

some of you people have the most ignorant outlook on things.. i do expect something i purchase to be fully functional and not feel like i spent 20 bucks on it versus 300..

just like if you purchased a car, and the trunk rattled all the time or moved left to right/up and down as you were driving it.. would you seriously put up with that??

i know a car is much more of an investment than a phone, but come the freak on. some things are unacceptable.. and having to rig my phone up with tape just so i'm slightly less annoyed with it is one of those things..

i'm emailing rim and verizon about this issue, and including as many of the links to threads about loose battery covers as i can.. ya'll can sit here and be grouchy because people expect something better than an ill-fitting battery cover if you want, but i'm not accepting anything less than WHAT I PAID FOR.

so what your saying is that they produced a phone with an ill-fitting back cover just so people would buy the next blackberry that comes out??

    LMAO!!

why should i HAVE to put tape, a skin, or a case on my phone to reduce a jiggle in the battery cover that shouldn't be there in the first place??

buy a laptop and the lid is loose, you gonna just put up with it? buy a dishwasher and the door is loose, you ok with that? buy a house and your back door is wobbly, you gonna complain? or are you gonna rig it up yourself with masking tape and caulk and let these companies avoid fixing the mediocre products they produce? they must do those kinds of things so you'll buy something bigger and better the next time.. **snicker**

think about what your typing before you type it, k? i have a phone that retails for 600 bucks.. paid 300 for it, and the back cover does not feel secure, irritates the crap out of me, and feels like my little brother made it. that's not cause enough to complain or demand some type of action on the manufacturer's behalf??

if your that dense and think people should sit by idly and DEAL with half-a** products that are sold at extremely high prices, your a bigger part of the reason this country has gone to h*** in a handbasket.

Well said! We as consumers expect craftsmanship, RIM expects craftsmanship too. As a company, RIM strives for perfection in their products. With that said, how will RIM be aware of flaws unless the consumer communicates with them about the flaws?
