    Review: SMobile Systems Virus Scan

Verdict: With the popularity of Blackberry on the rise, this software will soon be a must have. Mobile viruses are actually being created at a rate faster than computer viruses.

    SMobile Systems Mobile Virus Scans

    8/18/06 UPDATE:
Updating this post because 8700 devices are now supported by Smobile Systems. When this post was intially made, they were in the process of creating the program for the 8700 devices.

I have yet to hear of anyone on here being infected with a "Mobile Virus", but anything is possible now a days. With the newly feared and introduced "BB Proxy", this program acts like a virus scan for your mobile device.

Setup for the program is as simple as other programs, so there is nothing that is going to surprise you or make it difficult to do.

    Features:

    * Easy-to-use interface
    * Real-time Monitor auto-scans files received at the device via any file transfer mechanism
    * On-demand scan of internal memory memory card and/or full device
    * Autoboot when phone is restarted
    * Subscription-based license good for 1 year of virus updates
    * Auto-deletion of infected or suspicious files
    * Full logging of scan and detection activity
    * Full protection from the latest discovered viruses and malware

You can also set it up to automatically scan your device in different incriments: 1 hour, 4 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days, weekly, monthly etc. However, to be honest, I am not real sure when it will do it. I have mine set at once a day (why not?). However, checking the log it shows that the last scan was done on 8/15 at 2:30pm, almost 3 days ago, therefore, I can't really confirm that it is scanning every day. However, it does show that it's doing an AutoUpdate. I dunno, maybe I read it wrong and it just auto-updates every day but you have to manually do your scans? Not sure.

    Supported Blackberry Devices (Per Manufacturer Website: 7100g, 7540, 6210, 6230, 6280, 6510, 6710, 6750, 7100r, 7100t, 7210, 7230, 7250, 7270, 7280, 7290, 7520, 7730, 7750, 7780, 8700)

Pros: Should protect your device against or viruses, reasonably priced, updates included.

Cons: No real way to prove it unless you get ahold of a virus and want to try it on your device.

I didn't see the 7105t listed either but I just downloaded and installed it LOL

I just got this error on my 7105t: "Connection failed: Check server settings under Settings>Options>Advanced Options>TCP>APN server settings "Java.io.IOException: could not open tunnel-failed."

I also had problems registering for a free account.

Yeah, I had problems with it when I closed it giving me an error, but can't remember what exactly it said.

Are you getting an all black screen too? When I went to register, it never gave me a confirmation...So I tried to register again and it just said that I was already registered...I dunno..kinda strange...

Not sure of the current dev for the following: http://www.f-secure.com/wireless/ but I gave it a whirl sometime back when I was working for a security software developer.
