Review: BestSkinsEver for the 8220 FlipBerry

I can't remember a time, since I have owned a BlackBerry, that I haven't had a BSE on it. In fact, IF the skin was available when I purchased the BB, it went on as soon as the device was unboxed. Recently, I acquired an 8220 Pearl (what I call my FlipBerry). Best Skins Ever hadn't released a skin (full body kit) for it yet, so the first thing I did was take an old 8100 skin that I had and cut it to fit the screen. I didn't have anything to fit the outside, so I caved and bought one from Zagg. While it is comparable, its different. The 'feel' is different. I can't explain it. So recently, my bud GaryF posted that BSE had just relelased the full body kit for the 8220. I bought two I've only changed mine not because of damage to the skin, but because eventually the ends do peel up, so I like to have an extra on hand. When I ordered it, I thought for sure it would be a difficult job. I have skinned a few Curves, and the skinny parts that fit the sides are very hard to get lined up perfectly. But ... I also consider myself a "master skinner" and knew I could do it -- patience is a virtue

Below are screenshots of the full body skin on my 8220 Pearl. The skinny parts that fit on the silver outside was what I was nervous about the most. I kid you not, they were the easiest. I lined them up at the top and they fell right into place. I am serious! NOT kidding! This skin job, full body and all, took me less than an hour. Again, the key is to have patience and don't put too much water on the skin. Shake it out vigorously before attempting to apply it. If you don't get it straight first off, peel it, re-wet it and try again. I think the key here is to use qtips to squeeze the water and bubbles out, letting the qtip catch all the excess water.

    (that's a shadow, not two skins )

And I LOVE the envelope! Even on the BSE website they state to keep an eye out for the envelope bc some may mistake it for something else BSE is ECO friendly!

Just completed my install and I echo Cherri's comment that this may be one of their best efforts for fit. I too struggled with all the "curves" on the Curve, yet the 8220 pieces seemed to slide right into place nicely. And that's a great tip from double C on the Q-Tip...I have always used the credit card squeegee method and the q-tips helped smooth things out easily.

And I must say what a relief to have some protection on my 8220! Having already suffered a few slips and falls, there is a quiet reassurance seeing it nicely wrapped in a BSE skin!

^^ ditto... i only had the flip less than a week when i took hayden and gina into the city for a SF tour and ended up dropping it trying to hold it on my shoulder and talk at the same time There is a little nick on the silver part of the flip and I was sooo bummed. Wouldn't have happened had I had a skin on it

New to this-but-Snapfish offers something they call a skin. You can customize with photo/colors of your own or select from their website. Had to try it. Used a palm tree/blue sky pix from Hawaii trip-on Curve 8330. Get a giggle everytime I use my phone. They promise no markings remain on phone when removed. A fun little perk!
