Thumbs up REVIEW: Best skins ever - 8300 Curve

I had a BSE full body skin for my pearl and I really liked it. I tried some of the other 'screen guards' out there and this one is the best.

If you don't have any patience (no not the Guns N Roses kind) then I wouldn't buy this product. But what I do promise is after the first one, you will be a Jedi Master...ok, a BSE master

What you will need (my instructions):
1 towel (low cotton blend or whatever you can find that doesn't shed any lint)
1 qtip dipped in alcohol
1 old tshirt (CLEAN)
------
1 small bowl
liquid soap

------

take phone apart, lay out pieces and put battery some where safe away from the water
the BSE comes in 6 pieces. i would suggest starting with the battery cover. it is the easiest and least nerve racking
put drop of liquid soap in bowl and fill with water.
  1. clean back of phone with qtip dipped in alcohol and dry off with tshirt. make sure there is nothing on the phone surface before you apply the skin (i know i really don't have to say it, but i did)
  2. peel off the template and dip it in the bowl. bring out, gently shake 'excess water' off...you DO need some water on it to be able to move it to position.
  3. apply to battery door, moving it to position.
  4. let sit for 2 minutes, then gently hold one edge while wiping with tshirt to get any bubbles or excess water from underneath.
  5. repeat process with all other peices.
the bottom and side pieces are VERY VERY tricky....DO NOT give up you may need to peel and re-apply numerous times. remember the water will help to move it into position. the edges will lay down. let them sit for the 2 minutes and then softly smooth down with your finger. if it doesn't go down, let it set for a couple of minutes more and repeat. like i said above, patience is the only way

here are some shots (its clear and also gives the phone a 'grip type' feeling...so its easier to hold). You can see it in some spots on some of the pics.

Re: REVIEW: Best skins ever - 8300 Curve

Thanks Cherri, I've been using these since you recommended them a while back. I've got the screen only protector on my curve now but am thinking of upgrading to the full body skin. Two questions:

1. Do the soft black sides and top get covered too?

2. When you say take apart the phone how in depth are we talking?

the black parts do not get covered...the skin wouldn't adhere to the rubber material

take apart i mean, just take the battery cover off and battery out (remembering to put the battery some where safe)

Cool thanks, I actually prefer the black sides don't get covered, seems like overkill. Looking forward to putting my full bse skin on!

Can you still slip it in your pocket or does it grip too much? Thanks!

Hotwax - I've taken the rim oem skin off bc it was too bulky to put in pocket. I love it with jus the bse skin! Slides in and out of pocket perfectly

Re: REVIEW: Best skins ever - 8300 Curve

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i just ordered mine. Oh man I am nervouse about getting any water near mine. We will see how it goes. Cherri do you anything else woth your BB besides the BSE? Like a holster or silicone skin? I ordered a silicone skin too just to give it that extra protection. Coming from VZW I am used to having insurance to cover anything that might happen to my phone so I'm taking care to armor this thing up.

Re: REVIEW: Best skins ever - 8300 Curve

lol...a little water won't hurt the bb...just don't submerse it in water like a hot tub or something

the silicone skin was too big and it stuck to everything in my pocket, including the pocket itself

i have just received the boxwave skin and will do a review on it in the next day or so...similar product as the RIM oem skin.

Re: REVIEW: Best skins ever - 8300 Curve

Got mine and successfully put it one. Hardest part was truly the sides. But like Cherri said just have patience and you can do it. I love it. My baby is fully protected now and I can finally get rid of the original plastic plieces that came with it.
