A friend of mine wants to make a trade with me. In short, he is offering a BB 8700c which he claims works perfectly Except that email and SMS do not work, and he claims this is a software issue. what do you guys think? is it a software issue...is it possible if everything else works ok?

Hmm...I highly doubt that the email and sms would just all of a sudden quit working. My guess is it would be something with the settings.

Well he is likely right, but let's assume there isn't a gunshot hole in the middle of it,right? . You never said what you were trading for it? It could be also that he doesn't have a BB plan enabled on his phone. But I'd make sure before I traded anything of value.

    Re: Good Trade??

Well, even if you get it and you can't fix it (doubtful) and you want to get something else, you could always part it out on ebay. From the looks of it $110 for the screen, $30 front cover, $30 back cover, $10 battery cover, $25 keypad, $35 jog dial, $70 housing kit...That would be $310 plus your time to dismantle it. Prob be able to sell the battery itself too for atleast $20. That would all depend on if you A: Had the time and the desire to dismantle it and list it on ebay or in forums, B: Had the ability to purchase another one before begining to recoup $ off of the dismantled one so you don't have any downtime.
And with the 8700's being so new, there probably aren't many out there for parts right now, so those prices could actually be a little short...
In fact, if you don't want to trade, ask him what he'd sell it outright for and let me know.
