I've long been a Nokia fan, and have waited a long time for a good ... General Smartphones forum
I've long been a Nokia fan, and have waited a long time for a good release from Nokia. Nokia N8 is out, but I'm still hesitating to skip it and switch to a new brand or not. I read a lot of reviews on different smartphones, but still having a hard time to decide. I'm not interested in gaming/applications, and will mostly use the phone for business purposes. Basically, what I need and use mostly are the following:
- Easy email access (Exchange, Yahoo, Gmail,...)
- GPS and FREE maps and turn-by-turn navigation (this is what I like most about Nokia!)
- Smooth and fast web browsing
- Social networking (mainly Facebook)
- Keyboard OR easy-to-type interface
- Calendar/Agenda and to-do lists
Any suggestions for a phone with all the above features?
Who's your carrier? You should go into a store and see what they have to offer that suits your needs. Most carriers give you a 30-day exchange policy, so you can check out a device for a week or two and see if it does what you need/want. Then you'll also get a good idea of how the device feels in your hands.
We can make suggestions all day long, but it's got to be something you're ultimately comfortable with.
I'm in Switzerland, the carrier is Orange. I'm afraid they do not have the exchange policy here, so I should make up my mind online!
I see. So what are your options as far as devices go? Name a few that you have some interest in and we'll see if someone can offer some advice.
GPS and FREE maps and turn-by-turn navigation
I think it's importent too.Maybe Just because I'm terrible with directions.
I would recommend you to use BlackBerry, which has Blackberry Maps, a free app for GPS-equipped BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software v4.1 or later. With BlackBerry Maps, you can view maps, get directions to a destination, or locate points of interest that are nearby.

Actually, I can suggest 2 different options:
1. If you are going for new device, I'd suggest that you take a look at Android driven devices, like HTC Desire Z or Samsung Galaxy S
2. If you are going for used device, HTC Blackstone (Touch HD) or HTC Leo (Touch HD2) under WinMo 6.x look like best choice
Problem there is FREE maps...
In space no one can hear you scream.
Samsung GT-I9505 Galaxy S IV (stock Jelly Bean 4.3)
Samsung GT-I9505 Galaxy S IV (stock KitKat 4.4.2)
Samsung GT-I9100 Galaxy S II (CM 10.2)
Android or a Blackberry, I think.
I will go for HTC with Android.
You can get the most free apps for Android phones plus its the best OS for phones in my opinion.
