Well, It's my turn now. I've been biting my tongue. Or, for a better analogy, I've stiched my typing fingers together until now.
Why? 'Cause You YANKS GET UPGRADES.
We don't. The only upgrades we get, yearly, are TAXES! It's a kept promise.
The only ways we can aspire to a new phone are:
If you got the money. This means you are employed and rich.
If your Boss is kind, and gives hand-me-downs.
If you are in cahoots with the bank manager and he grants you an instant consumer credit. One of those with small, very tiny, minuscle, very invisible conditions that you can't read, but sign it anyway. You're desperate.
But getting back on track. The next smartphone I want (nothing to do with an upgrade, and I'm not going to repeat myself here) hasn't been invented yet. And when it is, I won't identify it at all, 'Cause I want the next one...
what! no contract option available. you'd have to wait years for the S3 to loose its value and become a cheap dumb phone. that would probably be when samsung releases the gs7...can you wait ?
There are contracts of course. But the prices to pay monthly for the service is high. Acquisition is about 100 Euros on contract. But then if you do your math, you'll pay about 50 bucks per month on the services that would be cheaper if you opted, as a example, for a prepaid monthly package. So, contracts just for the sake of having a iPhone? No thank-you.
Well I have a dilemma.
I am not a patient guy. Sprint tells me I am 52 days out and get a 150 upgrade perk. I need to figure out now long I have that.
If I can hold onto it for a few months then maybe the Journal. If longer then the S3. If not then the nexus. No interest in the HTC Evo LTE (One).
The other thing depends on what I decide to do with my S2. Sprint offers only $115 (currently ), so I need to see how much extra I need to come up with. May either sell or keep and pass to wife. Honestly this device is worth more than $115, going for more on elsewhere.
A Vodafone locked SII goes for 300Euros, 2nd hand. To sell. Buy at 380 to 400.
Sprint is running a fat profit, wow...
I'd say hang on Jay! And I wouldn't get the Journal either. Not with the SIII coming up.
Well I just called Sprint and found something interesting. That $150 is only off retail. So if its $500 it will $350. Better pricing for new customers. Kind of sucks.
Thanks for the incentive sprint. Customer for 15+ years (the whole account) and we get worse pricing than new customers.
With Gold and Premier being cut, Sprint has essentially dumped on its longtime customers. I have been hoping Network Vision will improve as the move to LTE, but it is hard to overlook what they do to customers sometimes.
With wimax going to EOL, everyone will have to upgrade at some point. I would say 2 years after LTE launch you will be needing a new device regardless of desire for one. Guess Sprint feels they have you backed into a corner.
I will not pay $350 for a device, well...maybe. Hate to speak in absolutes....
