    Question Mobile Area Codes

Is there any downside to having a mobile area code that is far, far away from the landline area code where you live? I have a friend in KY who has a 503 A/C, which is Oregon! He says area codes don't really mean anything anymore, since everyone with a mobile phone has free LD anyway.

Is he missing anything, or are area codes really becoming outmoded for wireless users?

It's not really an issue for someone calling FROM a mobile phone but if someone is calling from a landline, they will still incur long distance charges.

Not everyone uses a mobile phone all of the time.

From time to time, you have to wonder...... What was I saying?

503 is Oregon-- maybe he is using google voice and choose that area code for fun- if its a landline call it would still incur fees tho
