I'm speaking strictly from a human caring about another human point of view. It doesn't matter if he, Tim Cook or whoever runs Apple Inc, it is what it is. When and if the time comes that he should pass, I'm sure Apple will survive.

I am not going to be a hypocrite, I'm pleased he stepped down. Now I'm not pleased he's ill.

I care about him and his relationships with his family and his friends. I care that he's in pain, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I care that he's going to be missed when it runs its course. I care that, even despite my disgust at businesses practices, he made a great contribution to technology and to culture. I care that he suffers.
And I care that he's stepped down, sort of.

I see the immediate reaction to this news as based on business, not personal. If I come across as harsh, I apologize.

Regardless of his faults, he'll be remembered for his achievements. Whether we like it or not.

I wasn't lecturing guys, I was simply giving a different angle on this. He said in his statement he would step down when the time came where he could not perform his duties as CEO as he had in the past. ABC evening new said pancreatic cancer. I understand where non Apple folks are coming from, I was just pointing out that first and foremost this is another human. If I have offended anyone, I digress and sincerely apologize.

I have a friend that is counting the weeks left (not many now) with Pancreatic cancer. It is a very nasty cancer as Roger says very rarely ends well, it doesn't matter how much money you have with this, it will eventually catch up with you. I wish Steve Jobs well and hope he survives, as this will give hope to others, but he should step down and spend time with love ones. You never hear someone saying when the time comes "I wish I had spent more time at the office"
