    HTC Desire - I´m into Android !

Well guys, I decided to trade.
No, not my BB9700, God forbid !
The 9520 has gone - and in comes, wait for it.....the HTC Desire - I fell in love with the looks (a real charmer, and I´m compulsive) the screen (made of something related to lead), all the midgets (just have to invert the "m" to figure out how they invented a new word), and what I define as the Kirk Douglas profile. I´ll explain - some designer at HTC has been watching too many Kirk Douglas (and his descendents) movies, and decided on the phone profile. Cut the nose, keep the chin... well it works. As I said it´s a looker (charmer, same thing...)
Took the toy out the box, and my troubles started. Sync with Outlook ! Now I have many contacts with "Maria" as a first name (being in Portugal, all you get is Maria, Jose and Antonio), and now I have over a hundred of each on my "people" (I´m talking Androidy here) list and no ways to distinguish between all the Marias, the Jose´s and Antonios´s. Bummer. Made two calls already that are gonna get me into a lot of trouble...As for the Jose´s and Antonio´s, I´m not that way inclined, so no sweat there !
The HTC E Sync is stupid, or the BB phones are of a different breed. More intelligent. Thanks Desktop.
I´ll persist and WILL conquer...but my patience may run out.
I have 1185 contacts (with all details) on Outlook that have to be converted into "people", or "midgets" or "androids"... or whatever. Same goes for "Notes" - HTC E Sync SUCKS - No note or task sync ! I downloaded Evernote, but the program doesn´t open my saved notes because it has a Androidy Javathingy whactamacallit not working. Ok. Right. I´ll wait for someone enlightened Androidy "people" to fix this.
So those are my problems - Outlook ain´t friendly to Android space javalings.
Anybody out there can help me? Better yet, I´ll pay someone to convert my Outlook Contacts to Android People - all 1185 (and going up). Nah, I´ll manage and save the money...
As for the phone itself - it´s wonderful ! Superfast (probably space Androids on Viagra), a fantastic "leaded whatever" screen, has good sound and great video.
One thing, though, HTC should have copied the BB optic button. The little round hole at the bottom of the machine, by Kirk Douglas´s chin, is a no-no ! It´s a dimple. There we go again, the Kirk Douglas look...
That´s it. Will keep you updated with my endeavours. After writing this, I´m donning my space suit and try and work on my Android people thingy with Outlook. This is a fight ! It´s me or them...
    Power to the peolple !
Any buddies wanna upload a Kirk Douglas video? Feel like one now, dunno why...

Well......I will tell you what I did. I exported my outlook contact list to a .csv file.......I then imported that .csv file to gmail. It worked for me, so I think it should work for you. I have no suggestion for your frusterating future of lost emails and forced closes!

    Good luck!

I´m still at it. But I downloaded a program (free for 14 days) that at least syncs Notes and Tasks as well. As for the contacts, it´s still a problem; I have to change one by one on Outlook. Tried Google Sync, by the way, (imported .csv) but still the same problem. First names repeated endlessly.
    Haven´t given up though!

...update ! Bye-Bye Desire ! Fortunately found a good soul who took it off my hands... Good luck to him!
Great Media and fun phone though ! Just doesn´t cut it in my busy business and organized world.
Good riddance. And sorry, guys, this thread has no future...

^^^ Hi BHP - yeah, I'm a BB fan. The real problem is sync. With all my work details, it'a no-no. Liked the Android OS very much, though. Sometime in the future.
Greece and EU - well it's hitting us hard now. Much like in the US a year ago. We're not as bad a Greece, or even Spain. Italy - nobody knows, really how bad it is. But since we're in the same boat, there is plenty water up to waist level. Bad !

I really like Android too, until I couldn't get my e-mail to work. Really it only works well with Gmail. It is very connected to Google Products but with my work e-mail works fine with BB BIS, Iphone, Outlook, Windows Mail, Window Mobile and Palm OS(old one) . Yet Android still hasn't taken this part seriously yet. It is just a consumer device. The G1 was released late 2008, I would expect by now that such a device with the componets as the HTC EVo, HTC Nexus One and HTC Droid INcreadable to have e-mail work correctly. I know that in the future, Android will be a business device as well as Consumer...until then Iphone, Blackberry and WINMO 6.5 will fit everyone's needs...not sure about WINMO7

^^ I'm with you . Andróid is a good OS. I just feel it's going through growing pains now, and it doesn't satisfy my ( I stress my) rerquirements at all.I'll wait and see ...
As for WinMo 7, I'm curious to say the least.
But until now I don't have a substitute for the BB.
