Another reason not to leave your phone alone.

Theft is no longer the sole reason for not leaving a cell phone lying around. I knew some of this was possible but hadn't realized that they had gone so far and made it so accessible to everyone. The story never mentions anything about internet access being monitored as well as voice and text but if it is you can count on increased electronic theft as more and more people start using mobile banking.

As they say in the article, use a password. If they can't get in, they can't steal anything or load anything.

We noticed that in the story they showed a lot of CDMA non-smartphones. I am pretty sure this will work on a GSM unit as well. We are wondering if any Smartphones (GSM or CDMA) can be hacked/tapped this way. I may do a search tomorrow and check out some of the info you can see in the video.

I just answered my own question. Yes, there is software that will install on smartphones (even BB's) to allow you to spy on someone. I will not post the name or the link since use of the software is illegal. It does require access to the unit since it must be downloaded through the browser and installed.

The Feds have had that for years.
I always knew about listening in when the phones off.

I checked the website of that program, I can't afford $250-$350 for the pro versions!

Besides, if you don't own the phone, get caught, prepare to meet bubba!
No person or object is worth me going to jail for even 1 night.
I worked at the county jail 4 yrs, I won't be on the inside looking out.

Word of advice to those of you buying an unlocked or previously owned phone. Ebay. Craigs list. These are great breeding grounds for people like this.

This is the Norton antivirus and security software for windows and symbian phone users. As soon as I find one for BB I will post back here.

Okay here is a great article about Purewire extending it's security to Blackberry users at the corporate and small business level. Still working on finding something for the BIS users.

    This is from purwire itself.

Okay. For those of us on BIS and not part of the collective this malware from Smobile security software seems to be about the best thing i've found so far for the BB. Follow the link below to Handmark for a look at this software. 30.00 bucks vs the alternitive, seems pretty easy. Just downloaded mine.

BitDefender is superior to most and will scan the BB.

Do you use the mobile version or do you use the pc version? The mobile version uses real time protection and says it works on many different types of platforms but I didn't see where it supports BB. Looked good otherwise. Trying the free version of the one I posted prev.

My BlackBerry never leaves my pocket or my hand, anyway. Honestly, it is almost as though the damn thing is glued to me.
