| 8350i on Boost Mobile?
Hello. Sorry if someone has asked this question here, I can not seem to find it. I currently have service with Boost Mobile ($50 unlimited plan) and I was interested in buying the 8350i and using the phone with Boost. Has anyone had success in using this phone on Boost? What services work? I'm not really interested in the push email as long as the calls, PTT, web, SMS and MMS work fine.

Calls and PTT would be the only thing out of the box. Web can be used by installing opera mini. But SMS and MMS will not be functional at all. As well as the PUSH but you've already mentioned you wont be needing it.

First off let me just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this post. For the most part I have successfully taken an 8350i and modded it for my boost account. I only have one question. I went through all the steps except for the very last one (i have no intrest in forwarding my texts to my email) Everything is working great TALK, SMS, MMS, SHANG EMAIL and the native browser (but it pulls up everything in wap it seems) The only problem I am having is when I downloaded the GOOGLE application the icon came up in my downloaded folder, after accessing the prog it says completing installation and then says ERROR don’t have access to internet. It does the same thing as well with the OPERA application. I’m stumped bc I’m getting all the push emails from my gmail account just fine.. PLEASE PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE MANY MANY MANY THANKS |

Also another issue I am experiencing is Recieving Text Messages - Since I started using the 8350i I am not recieving txt msgs right away. It seems that they are only coming to me when i turn the radio off then then turning it back on.. When I test it to myself it sends and recieves with no problem, there only seems to be a problem when someone sends one back to me a few min later. Any suggestions as to why? ALSO WHEN I TRIED TO UPDATE THE IMEI NUMBER ONLINE ON BOOSTS WEBSITE IT SAYS INVALID IMEI # Last edited by aruikis78; 07-10-2009 at 01:32 AM. |

The SPECIFIC issue you are having with SMS & MMS has nothing to do with the configuration or provisioning of the device on Boost Mobile. It is an OS version issue. The original BB OS that was released with the BB 8350i was full of bugs. One of those bugs being the exact SMS/MMS issue you are having, which requires you to turn the radio off/on as a workaround in order to recieve new SMS & MMS messages. This issue is easily resolved by downloading the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Version 4.7 and the Blackberry Handheld Software Version 4.6.1.204 (316) by going to sprint.com/downloads > Smartphones > BlackBerry® Curve™ 8350i Smartphone and then selecting the download for install. You may need to re-provision your device with the service book instructions provided by the MurderousOne after the software download is complete, however, I am not sure, so make sure you back up those service books! |

I am having, what I think is, a strange problem. I am trying to connect my device to a computer but the device is not being recognized. I thought it might be the USB/miniUSB or the computer so I tried it at home with a different USB/miniUSB and a differnt computer (both had DM and the OS 4.6). It didn't work either time. Suggestions? Also, while I am picking the brain of all the smart people out there, when I email myself a zip file or an mp3 through gmail, I can't seem to open or download the files. Thoughts? Thanks for any help.
