BlackBerry users will NOT lose service.

BlackBerry users will not lose service if maker RIM is hit with an injunction, a top RIM executive said.

RIM Co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie said"We're endeavoring to plan for every scenario. Our customers can be calm that there won't be an interruption of service."

Balsillie also said "We've done it (the workaround) in a way that we don't think there's a compromised experience, period."

    The Nokia intellisync deal

RIM is simply not interested in Nokia's bid because Intellisync would not complement its existing business. Also Merrill Lynch analyst Vivek Arya said that for now the acquisition should be a "non-event" for RIM and "While this move strengthens Nokia‘s position in the enterprise and potentially reduces its dependence on third party platforms such as RIM‘s BlackBerry Connect, we do not expect any financial implications on RIM in the near term."

I just wish everyone would relize this... A good portion of people with BlackBerrys are running around like chickens with their head cut off everytime theres a news story about RIM.

You have to admit its funny to watch them. The people I work with who had BBs I used to scare a little.. just mention the word NTP and you could see the fear. There is no way there would be a halt to service... Too many powerful, important, rich people (clearly not me) will make sure of that. For once I am glad for that

My customers have been going crazy. Today's news had them all calling me about the news cast, I counted 57 calls in 2 hours.I would guess RIM had the capital or R&D when NTP passed on the 450 million. It can only get better.

I am sorry for you. I don't have to deal with that. I don't worry about it for myself or the others around me.

I get hassled every day. "Hey, did you know your blackberry is going to stop working? Shame you spent all that money for a fancy phone that won't work." It gets real old after a while. Usually it leads to an argument and I make someone feel a little dumb.

Can't say that I have had that problem. I keep my phone out of sight at work. Presently I am managing on a call center floor, and I feel if I am telling others not to have thier phones out, neither should I.
