You can use Blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 2G 3.1.2. Or you can also use bootneuter.app for downgrading your baseband and use PwnageTool to unlock and jailbreak iPhone 2G or use Redsn0w to unlock and jailbreak iPhone 2G.

i think thats is when you dont have the og sim card to activate your iphone on itunes so you just have a connec to itunes screen, and you need some tool to hackactivate that and get to the homescreen. idk someone correct me if im wrong

Yes Blackra1n will hacktivate I used it to upgrade to 3.1.2 on my 2G

evo what os is the iphone 2g on? as far as i know the iphone must be on 3.1.2 for blackra1in to unlock and/or jailbreak. i tried jailbreaking and unlocking on an iphone3g on 3.1 not on 3.1.2 and it didnt work.
