Restore to 3.1.2 manually using the Shift + Restore method, NOT WORKING

    All,

I need to restore my phone <sigh>. I currently have a jb iphone w/3.1.2 firmware. I want to make sure that when I do the restore I do NOT upgrade to 3.1.3. Anyways, when I try to manually restore by selecting the 7D11 restore file, I keep getting an error stating "The device isnt eligible for the request build."

If I just do the restore normally, there are 2 options in iTunes. The first (which I do not want to do) says "update," which will update me to 3.1.3. The second option is by pressing the resore button, however it does not say what version it is restoring to. I do not want to use this method unless I can be certain it will restore the phone back to 3.1.2 so I can rejailbreak again.

    Any suggestions?

Ok, download all files using FireFox, NOT GOOGLE!!!

Put all files in ONE folder, Then extract Part one, it will extract all the files into one huge file. After that, Restore shift to that huge file. It will already be Jailbroke after it boots back up.

Part one 3.1.2 Custom Pre Jailbroke 3GS

Part two 3.1.2 Custom Pre Jailbroke 3GS

Part three 3.1.2 Custom Pre Jailbroke 3GS

Part four 3.1.2 Custom Pre Jailbroke 3GS

    ENJOY

Put your phone into DFU MODE FIRST!!!

    DFU MODE

If you get an 16xx error, which you shouldnt run iReb.

    iReb for Windows

The files are too large to send as one, thats why there are four.

    As for FireFox.

Google it and download, thats it, and run it when downloading.

Ok, My phone is in recovery mode but I got that 16xx error. When I ran iReb, it wants my ECID number, which I don't know how to get since I cannot get to Cydia

To get your ECID do the following:

Put your iPhone 3GS into Recovery mode - switch it off, hold down the Home button, and plug the USB cable in. When it shows a picture of the iTunes logo and a USB cable, stop holding down home.

    Windows:

    1) Download USBView
    2) Start USBView on your PC.
    3) In “options”, check off ”config descriptors” (enable).
    4) Hit F5 on your keyboard to refresh.
    5) Scroll down until you see ”Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB DRIVE”, and click on it.
    6) Look for ECID in right navagation panel.
    7) Copy the 16 digits that follow the ECID.

    Mac:

    1) Open System Profiler.app (In Applications -> Utilities)
    2) Click USB and select the iPhone from the list, it will show the ECID there.

To get out of recovery mode, simply hold down Home + Power until your phone reboots.

Have you not tried a restore from a previous back up date?

Where your phone on the side says; your name iPhone, highlight it blue, right click and select restore from a previous back up.

    I always try this first.

    Just a thought.

Got it thank you! Itunes recognizes my device, but there is no logo on screen like normal. Should I just run iReb as is? Also on the screen that asks for my ECID, do I select Apple or Cydia from the dropdown?

Did that and after I clicked submit it says SHSH saved (at the bottom of the pop up box where I entered my info in), but my screen never went white like it said it would. What should be my next step?
