Question the Pearl; 2gb micro sd card; do they play nice?

As a pda/sda/mda/whatever newbie, I've jumped in w/the new BB Pearl. This is my first organizer and I am excited! I have purchased a 2gb micro sd card (sandisk from verizon store b/c it's only avail from verizon) and after many attempts, I cannot get the phone to power up w/the card in. W/the card installed, the green network l.e.d. flashes red and the screen will flicker once approx. every 10 secs or so. Does anyone know how i can utilize this 2gb card w/the Pearl? I am extremely novice. thanks.

As of right now, the 2gb memory card does not work with the pearl, even though the soeva say it should. Hopefully a future os upgrade will make it possible...

Hi thomas, welcome to pinstack. I cannot help any with the pearl, but there are many experienced pearl users here that will provide wonderful assistance. My guess is the pearl will not support a card as large as 2 gig.

on another thread...on my way out...i saw that the Rogers OS just released will support a 2g micro card...but that is probably your issue...you aren't running the Rogers version.

Yeah as of right now the Pearl doesn't support the 2GB card. Future OS updates may/will fix this issue. As stated Rogers has a new OS relased that is supposed to fix this. Be glad when T-Mobile releases their update.

Considering the fact that I'm on an unlocked pearl with Cingular, I'm gonna wait until someone on here says there are updates available and ok for download before I start updating my OS.

I purchased the Pearl from tMobile about a month ago. I just installed a 2gb microSD card and it works fine. The media card status shows 1.91GB total space and I was able to copy mp3s directly to the card with usb as a "Mass storage device" in windows. I can play music and store pictures to the device with no problem. The BB created 4 directories on the card: music, video, ringtones and pictures. Not sure how to tell what os version I am using, but the phone does support 2gb. Not sure what is going on with your phone, maybe you have a bad card or a bad phone...

Re: the Pearl; 2gb micro sd card; do they play nice?

We just ran into this yesterday. I popped my 2GB MicroSD (Corsair) I bought for my 8800 to see how the T-Mo 8100 played the audio & video I have on it.

The device did the flashing LED thing the OP described, and would not boot with the card inserted. Popped it in a coworker's Cingular 8100, and it worked just fine.

The 8100t in question has OS 4.2.0.42 (2.2.0.28 for the app), but I'm going to try the Cingular 4.2.0.69 (2.2.0.40) OS on it now, which is what the Cingular 8100 is running.
That way I'll know if it's a firmware issue or this T-Mo 8100 is just gimpy.

khaddem: To check the OS version on your Pearl (or any suretype model), from the main screen hold down the ALT key and type 1?71 (or ALT race if it helps you remember).
It doesn't record video. Get over it.

Just to update, loading the Cingular firmware fixed the 2GB MicroSD issue on that T-Mo Pearl so it gets to go back into the inventory bin, not the parts bin.
It doesn't record video. Get over it.

So that means 2GB is not 100% Ok for Blackberry Pearl 8100? Am I right?
