Again.. Can anyone recommend a good drug guide to get for the BB?

Most are made for the Palm or Pocket PC..

Ive noticed that most of the good ones seem to be interfaces through the web (as opposed to downloading the entire thing onto the BB locally).

Pepid can be downloaded to your microSD card (OTA or via desktop installer). Then the drug databases are available without you going online/thru the web.

Hi there, anyone using Handbase in their Blackberry? I tried to use the application but have never been sucessful in syncing any databases from desktop to the BB. I used this app in my Treo before and have lots of databases made...I was hoping to transfer them to my BB. Anyone with Handbase for BB and using it successfully, please help.

i manage accounting for a hospital in my area and i have to say without my bb i wouldnt know what to do day to day. i use it for personal as well as business use.

as for the physicians, because of the rigors of their schedule/vocation, most use bb's and blackjacks at the hospital, and from what ive seen they do it to stay in touch with their friends and family. i havent heard of any really using theirs for work. but hey, if there's software out there they can utilize id be glad to suggest it.

I use my BB version of LexiDrugs and Pepid to look for dosages of medications and check for interaction. I also use the web/google a lot to look up rare syndromes. I am hoping the Documents to Go (an application that allows one to view and edit Word, PPT and Excel files) will come out soon for the BB. More and more docs in my department are using the BB so it is great to be able to get in touch with them for a quick question/opinion via PIN msgs.

I don't know how I missed this thread before. I am so happy to see that there are a lot of medical personell using the BB. I'm a rad tech in the cath lab. Except for work email, I mainly just play with my Curve.

I have converted many ofour physicians to using a BB, now I'm working on getting them to let me be the BES admin. Our IT guys just don;t seem to get it.

hello I am a software developer and I have been building in-house medical apps for 10 years
I wrote a prototype for palms years ago and I just picked up a BB pearl cingular,

In our hospital they are already using palms and windows mobile Hp handhelds for
charge capture, there is a company in the suburbs of Boton called patient keeper,
I am not sure if there stuff is working on the blackberry ....

A question to the med folks. I beleive you could store the entire prescribeable drug list to the device
/sd card. Including formuary etc ...

But would clinical data, stored locally be valuable, if you had no connection and the
data on the device may not be current?

Re: Medical folks using BB...the doctor is IN!

Hope this thread can be brought back to life. I'm an RN. Worked ICU for 10 years and now am managing a medical-surgical floor. Did anyone see that Epocrates came out with a free drug database for Blackberry? I've had it for a couple days and it seems pretty nice. I'd love to PIN with anyone and talk medical.

To answer your question, I'd have to say there could be some use for info like that. However, a BES based app with real time patient info would be the most useful app I can think of. I know our group/hospital would pay good $$$ for something like that.

I really think Blackberry and the medical field could be a great marriage. It has the security and now just needs more applications to integrate the two.
