Irish and proud! Well, half Irish and proud!

I have to ask about your screen name 'paddy.' You do realize that, atleast in America (not sure where you are located), 'paddy' is an old racial slur for Irish people. It is where we get the term paddy wagon, due to the large number or Irish immigrants who would be hauled away after a bar brawl.

From Ireland, and it still is a bit of a "negative" term. But thank God, we know how to laugh at ourselves.

Ha! We can all learn something from Beerfest!

As far as paddywagon goes, that is what I wa always taught. May be an old wives tale but to my knowledge Irish people were always called 'paddy' as a slur. I guess it was an ignorant way of saying all their names were Patrick.

I lived in Ireland and it is still used, but not in such a negative way- The Irish have a way to laugh at themselves. Now they just call a cab - no paddy wagons anymore. But plenty of bar brawls. lol
