    Question Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd say hi. Hope non-phone-geeks are welcome here. :-) I've joined because the maze of phones and phone options, and a JVM error 102 message on a Blackberry Curve that is not yet 2 years old has me in a tail spin. I have never, ever downloaded anything on to this phone. I woke up literallly in the middle of the night and it was glowing with this message. I can't believe the BB folks won't do something about this...

At any rate, anyone who has any advice on phones may chime in at any time. I really only need a phone that texts and that I can use for e-mail. I don't do movies or games or any of that stuff. Thanks and nice to be here!

    Welcome!

We can help bring your BlackBerry back to life, Strider. How 'bout we help you with that first?

It's a simple as reloading the operating system.

Hi Roger - The thing is, I have a Mac and am not all that technically inclined. I've read all those posts and it sounds reallly complicated. Can a dope like me do this? ;-)

Sure ya can. First, just go here and download Desktop Manager for Mac.

Next, you'll need to download the latest OS for your device. Who's your carrier?

Thanks, all, for the support and warm welcome! I have to tell you at the moment, iPhone is looking really good.... (as soon as Verizon gets its version.) :-)

Roger, you're starting to sound like my brother in law, though I suppose it's a "looker.." :-) I just need my phone back! Argh!

Who knows, maybe I am your brother-in-law!

Don't worry, it's pretty easy to reload your software. What device do you have, the 8530?

Here is the latest OS from Sprint for the 8530.

And you can go here to get the most current from Verizon. You might even be able to load it directly from the website, otherwise here are detailed install/upgrade instructions.

    It's a curve 8330!

Roger - It's a Curve 8330. I thought it was 85... See? I am really not a geek! I didn't even know which phone I owned! ;-) My husband just had it at the Verizon store where they were trying to download some things and they got a corrupt file message, and some other things, (don't ask me!) so I'm skeptical, but I do appreciate the support and vote of confidence so I'll give it a go tonight. But I am wondering, seriously, if I did absolutely nothing, what would cause the phone to do this? Any theories out there in Stack World?

So this 102 error appeared AFTER the good folks at the Verizon store mucked with it?

I ask because your description of the corrupt file message coincides with a 102 error.

I'll post up links for your device here shortly.
