Happy New Year from a Newbie

Hi all. I hope the new year has geeted everyone with only the best.
I am new to the BB scene, so new I don't even have a BB yet but I am getting one as soon as possible!
I have lurked around the website for a couple days and I am trying to decide which BB to get and which carrier to go with.
Currently I have Sprint for my cell service. I would like to stick with Sprint, but after reading some threads here I am not so sure thats the best tihng to do. There are a lot of raves about TMobile here.
Any recommendations? I know thats a loaded question.
Anyway, I look forward to learning a great deal from you all and I am glad I have found the website.
    Happy New Year to all.

    Jim

Hello Jim and Welcome to the Stacks. As far as carriers go, T-Mobile and Cingular currently have the Blackberry 8100 aka the Pearl that everyone is talking about. Both also have the 8700 (T-mobile has the 8700g and Cingular has the 8700c). The 8700's have full QWERTY keyboards while the Pearl is a sure type device. For Data plans, T-Mobile is currently the cheapest for their unlimited data plans.

I guess it will come down to what you are using your BB for and whether you would like a full keyboard or not.

Others will be along soon to let you know their thoughts as well. Good luck in your decision.

    Hi JimZ06,

I'll start by saying welcome to Pinstack.

I'll also ride the fence on the best device b/c is depends on your needs and what you will be using the new device for?

I will also say if you are wanting to stay with Sprint the 8703 would be a great phone. I know many love the 8700 series for many reasons.

I'll let other Stackers post on additional vendors and phone models.

    enjoy Pinstack.

Thanks for the welcome! The amount of knowledge and expertise on this board is amazing!
I am not certain who I will get service with. More than likely I will stay with Sprint. I am looking at the 8703e and I plan on using the BB to have continued access to email and data no matter where I am at as well as a calling plan.
I am sure I will have a ton of questions as I am not only new to the board, but new to the BB as well.
    Thanks again!
    Jim
