    Thumbs down continually resetting 8700v

I've just bought an 8700v on eBay and it is continually soft and hard resetting. The battery is fine and the handset works as I've checked this with my current 7100v.

While I wait for the seller to contact me, does anyone have any idea why the hand set is doing this.

    Thanks for your help...

    Re: continually resetting 8700v

Thanks for such a quick reply. I've spent a few hours this afternoon trying to find out how to do this. I can find software for US handsets or at least the 8700 from cingular but nothing at all for UK devices. Also being a mac user I've even installed windows so that I can use desktop manager but it's not clear how to update the system software from this. Sorry about all the questions but I'm new to these devices. I'm sure if I read these forums I'll find the answers, but Blackberrys website leaves a lot to be answered for!

    Re: continually resetting 8700v

It will be a day or two as I have to put windows back onto my mac. The 8700 does actually have the latest software, but hopefully a fresh install wil cure it's faults. I'll report back.

It seems to me that Blackberry don't really like people doing this to their products as there are no references as to how to do this on their official site, despite the software being there. For a handset that seems to be updatable in many ways, they aren't making it easy for anyone. Maybe that's the lure of the things.

Anyway, can't go back to the Nokia now!!!

    Re: continually resetting 8700v

Well, good news and bad. I have successfully upgraded my 7100 but the 8700 is still bad. On a better note the seller has now contacted me and the 8700 is in the post back to them, so hopefully I will get a replacement soon. Thanks for all your help, these forums help so much as the manufacturers give so little.
