~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
I get a lot of p2p messages, which I don't mind and think its great for privacy for those that don't want tol share their pin, but there is always the trackwheel to show their pin..

Anywho, thanks for this detailed tutorial Hayden

Re: All about Blackberry PIN peer-to-peer messaging.

Hi all,

Im new here and to BB's in general. I read through your posts and there is some very good info here. I hope I didnt miss the answer I'm looking for, if so I apologize.

I have an 8800, I would like to know if the messages sent through BB messenger can be tracked, in other words is there a history trail of any sort on a server some where? I know we use BES where I am employed.

And can someone point me in the right direction of where I may be able to find some info on the BB messenger icons? I cant seem to find any info on the web and the one's i saw here are a little different than the one's on my BB and not all are listed.

Thank you all very much for any help you can offer.

During 9\11 the only phones working in the area were Blackberries, and that's why everyone in Washington and people in Emergency Services are required to have Blackberries now. They work. Always.
If anyone has a more complete answer, I'd be interested to hear the technical explanation.
Your answer pretty much covered everything. Pin messaging uses the GPRS network, which is the same network the internet uses. However, I've known Blackberry users who don't even have data service still be able to send pin messages. I'm thinking it must be something within BB's configuration that makes work so well.

I'm not sure if pin messages can be tracked on the BES. The BES has its own Enterpise Messenger service that I use at my company where the pin messages are strictly within the firm. You might wanna ask your IT guy.

Cheers,
i would tend to lean more towards the 'if its company owned and especially on the company BES, they can see everything..."

Its always safer to assume yes, in the BES environment. They can monitor the data routing through their server.
