I'm going to be quiting in six days. I've tried several times in the past. I tried the gum last time. That seemed to work the best so far. I'm thinking this time maybe Chantix and the gum. Having some support would probably be a big help too. Wish me luck when my day comes!

Congrats. If you haven't quit, you will never understand how difficult it is. It DOES get easier, but it never goes away. I've been quit 3 1/2 years (after smoking for 32 years). I've never seriously thought about smoking another one until the other day. I just picked up a pack of cigarettes to move them out of my way. I got the strangest tingling feeling and almost had one in my hand before I knew it. I also knew if I did, I'd be smoking again and would probably never quit again, so I resisted. Beleive me, that was a lot easier than quitting cold turkey! So, STAY STRONG!

Don't give up! It WILL get easier! I'm in my 11th year smoke free and so glad I quit. I work with a bunch of smokers. They all walk around hacking, coughing and reeking of cigarette smoke. It amazes me that I ever had that nasty, disgusting, unhealthy habit.

I have been smoking less than a year and I already want to quit. But because I started at the same time as 3 people I see regularly, it makes quitting extremely hard. It seems after everything we do; smoke break.

There's times when I'm not around these people for a few days at a time, and if me and the girlfriend are on good grounds I don't smoke. Or if I'm with her. So I know I can do it, it is just extremely hard.

    Advice?

Advice? QUIT!! You think it's hard now? The longer you do it, the harder it will be to quit. Quit now and don't ever look back. Luckily you haven't been smoking that long so the damage to your lungs isn't too bad yet. If you keep smoking, the damage will get worse and it will be harder to quit. Just do it, Stephen. You'll be glad you did.

I smoked for 27 years and 16 of those years were in the entertainment industry. I spent 7 nites a week on stage or in a night club. When I had to get a real job(marriage and kids do that to you) I switched to the lowest tar and nicotine cigarettes I could find. Then I stopped smoking at nite and on the weekends. It made it easy to quit.

I think that's great. Congratulations! I'll keep you in my prayers that you'll have continued strength. I've never smoked but I'm sure its not easy to quit.
