Got it working! I had to do it again 2 weeks later. Every time I pull my battery, I get the JVM 102 error. I quit doing that!

Many thanks for this post. I've had a blackberry for years and yesterday was the first time I got the JVM Error 102 (and the first time I had heard about it). This morning I googled to see what could be done ... less than 20 minutes later my bb is back up. This time even included downloading the current versions of the device and desktop software and registering to get the java script.

One small addendum (not sure if this is accurate or not). My bb was not recognized by my pc when I first had error 102, so I thought I would need to follow the instructions for "installing the os when bb is not recognized. Instead, when I reinstalled the desktop and os software on the pc the next time I connected my bb it was recognized (though not "connected" in desktop" application) and I was able to just go ahead and use the application loader to as described in your post.

I am a SprintNextel ASC and I had a customer that had this happen to him twice.. The first time I just did an advance exchange and that was it.

Then the customer said he was in Cali ( he lives in CO ) and he said he couldn't get on the internet. So he called BB and they said to take out his battery and put it back in ( I guess a reset ). And when he turned it back on it caused the JVM 102 error message. He came back in and I was in the process of just doing an advance exchange again when I thought to myself.. "Maybe I can fix it, it's just a software issue". That's where I found this thread.

Basically, what is the JVM 102 error and what causes it? I did follow these steps and it worked exactly the way it should.. Took the hour glass FOREVER to go away.. But after that I just updated the Host Routing Table and had the customer up and running in about 30 mins. Good stuff, appreciate the help! I will be coming here to search for more advanced issues.

Thank you so much! This post was awesome and while I didn't need to use the JL loader at all (the new Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1 handled everything great), this was a very succinct guide. I was able to spend my time on fixing the issue instead of researching it!

thank u i just did the fix and it is just on the hourglass. just a question because i got this bb as a gift, i heard that bb's r expensive 2 run just 4 tha softwae and apps not just txtn/callin... Is this true?? i heard it is around 50$ a month just 2 run it withot txtn or anything??

well, you have to consider that if you are going to use it as a phone and data device, you are looking at both a voice plan and a data plan. $50 sounds about right...kind of low if you are cingy, but about right for tmo. mine is about $80 ($40 for voice, $29 for unlimited data and $10 for 1000 txt (i think))
