    t-mobile forums:
    Good evening!

As some have posted, we have indeed begun issuing an update to G1 users. The update, Firmware version 1.1 / RC33, was released to a small number of users today, but will be sent to all G1 users over the next two weeks. The update includes several bug fixes and feature enhancements, but is not 'Cupcake'.

You need not take any action as the update is issued at random and will reach everyone in due time.

Some may see this as a dumb question, but what exactly is a G1. I tend not to care about other phones besides blackberries, but this one I am curious about.

To ensure our customers continue to have a great experience with the T-Mobile G1 with Google, customers with a G1 will receive an Over the Air (OTA) update (1.1 RC33) to their devices between February 5 and February 15. This OTA will include new system enhancements and fixes to a few minor known issues. New G1 activations will receive the OTA up to three days after service has been activated.New enhancements include:• The ability to save a picture or file to the memory card from a MMS message by long-pressing on the item.• New "Check for Upgrades" feature gives customers the ability to check for system upgrades.• New "Voice Search" feature allows customers to perform a voice-activated Google search (voice search icon will be visible on the Google search bar and located in the menu after the update). Known Issue fixes include:• Resolution to Comcast fails to download more than one e-mail - When retrieving e-mails, the device pulls down one e-mail into the inbox. There is no error message but it stays on "Load More Messages" without ever pulling another e-mail.• Resolution to "Messages" stability issue - When trying to send a message or exit the "Messaging" application, customers receive a pop-up message that reads, "Sorry! Activity Messaging (in application Messaging) is not responding. Force Close Wall".• Resolution to Wi-Fi forcing a logout of IM - While using the IM clients on the G1, if customers turn on or off Wi-Fi, the sessions are terminated and customers will need to sign back in.• Resolution to no reminders for calendar items - Customers are missing appointments due to the lack of a reminder initiating as previously programmed.• SW improvement for G1 hanging at the G1 screen - A small number of new G1 devices are hanging at the G1 screen during the initial powering up out of the box. Customers will receive a pop-up message on their device informing them their device has received an OTA update. Once G1 customers receive the OTA pop-up message, they will have the option to Update Now or Update Later. After customers complete the OTA, their device will reboot and no further action is required. OTAs are scheduled and the system will send them out automatically, OTAs cannot be manually sent to customers.Note: At this time, the "Cupcake" software update is not available for the G1. Information regarding this update will be communicated once information is available ~via smartphone~

That should answer all the questions about the update~via smartphone~

    Update...

Removed device from charge at 9:00 am running Power Manager default settings. Used browser and phone extensively all day, including WiFi connection.

Prompted to charge at 5:40 due to battery at 15% charge.

Not exactly Blackberry life but better than yesterday.
