A new mobile service from Liverpool has scooped one of five available prizes for developing a SMS archiving application for Google’s Android operating platform. Treasuremytext allows mobile users worldwide to archive and share their text messages online.

Its new application for the T-Mobile G1 allows automatic archiving to the web for the first time, as it works ‘in the background’ automatically creating a copy of each SMS to the Treasuremytext service. These can then be printed, sorted and shared with friends around the globe.

The firm unveiled this application at the Amsterdam Android DevCamp Challenge and managed to secure one of the five prizes at a special event held on 29 January by T-Mobile. The application will now be made available for mobile users to download through the Android Marketplace in the coming weeks.
