Android 1.6 SDK released, coming to devices as early as October
via engadget mobile: And with that, Google has released the SDK for Android 1.6, a.k.a. "Donut." Developers can go nuts over the fine-tunings of it, but the takeaway for the consumer is that it allows Android devices to run on CDMA and in different resolutions and screen sizes -- should help to vary up the options currently available.
nice...we are already running the experimental version...seems to run crisp so far with some nice UI enhancements on some applications.....when it hits mainstream people will love it.

Hmmm so it looks like this works hand in hand with Verizon's promise to release Android devices next year.
will the G1 have enough memory for this?
I'm typing this now from a G1 running Cyanogen's 188.8.131.52(tweaked/tuned Donut 1.6) with no problem. Runs like a dream.
