    Samsung Unveils 1GHz "iPhone" Processor?!

From TgDaily: Samsung and Intrinsity have designed a 45 nanometer (nm) ARM Cortex-A8 processor capable of delivering 2000DMIPS at 1GHz. The dual-issue chip, code-named Hummingbird, features 32KB data and instruction caches as well as an ARM Neon multi-media extension.

ARM Cortex A8 architecture is currently found in a number of devices, including the Palm Pre and iPhone 3GS. The speedy 3GS is powered by a Samsung S5PC100 system-on-chip (SoC) running at a respectable 600MHz. Samsung's previous top speed was 833 MHz.

The question remain as to whether or not these new chips will appear in future Apple devices. So far, Apple has used Samsung technology in the iPod Touch and iPhone, we'll see.

I wonder how hot that would run in these tiny phones
and how much it taxes the battery? They may have to include
a glove in the box to use when holding the phone to keep
    from burning your hand.

I think Samsung has something up there sleeve for the heating issue.
Let's not forget; Toshiba has s phone already out there floating around with a 1gig processor. And I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.
