Thanks a lot. It worked for me but there is a problem when I select O2 Zen theme on my 8300 Home Screen Background remains unchanged. Rest of the themes are working fine. Moreover, once these themes are unlocked, is there a way to get them removed ?

Just a quick question... In 4.5.0.81 for the curve 8310 is anyone else not seeing the sprint or verizon themes? Because I have the orange, tmo, o2 and others but not sprint or vzw... Anyone know why?

Anything's possible when you are talking about different carrier's downloads. Especially if you are talking about the differences between GSM and CDMA carriers

If you're running Vista, try just saving the Blackberry.alx file as bleacberry.txt, then renaming it as blackberry.alx.

because you haven't downloaded the device software? if you have, then it isn't "installed" .. go back to where you saved it and execute the file.

I did download and had it executed. I am going crazy. I can't find the blackberry.alx file.
Under research in motion folder, I have AppLoader, BBBI Drivers, Modem Drivers, RIMDeviceManager, and USB Drivers.

I have an old desktop manager from 2 - 3 years ago. Downloaded 4.6. Wouldn't work. So I figured my 8110 is ver 4.3 so I downloaded Desktop Manager 4.3. I remembered I still have 4.6 so I used Add/Remove and took that out. Then I downloaded 4.3 again as I didn't execute it the first time. Did I mention I had to do a couple of restarts? Then I did the back up again and found the Device Software tab still empty. And still no blackberry.alx file.

It is past midnight here and I really should sleep. This drove me to drink Red Bull and a couple of Diet Pepsis. And still nothing.

So if you're sure the device software is executed properly onto your PC, then you should be able to find the blackberry.alx file using the following path:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8310-v4.5.0.xx_P2.7.0.72

The last part being specific to your particular OS on device.

If you still can't find it, I would recommend uninstalling everything, rebooting and reinstalling.
I'd also recommend sleeping on it and trying tomorrow ~ you'll feel better

    thanks

Thanks to those who tried to help but I am giving up.
I had slammed my phone too hard in disgust and I am afraid it will get worse if I don't get this right should I attempt again.

with this statement and the lack of confirmation that you have downloaded and installed your Device Software, (Not the Desktop software) you need to do so. Go back and re-read the Original post. Specifically Step 5.
