    From TSN

Jim Balsillie has put in an offer on the Phoenix Coyotes.

"The Research in Motion CEO made his intentions known in a media releason on Tuesday which confirmed that a $212.5 million (US) offer was on the table to purchase the team. One condition of the purchase was that Balsillie would relocate the franchise to an unspecified region in Southern Ontario."

Definitely a good move I think. Maybe then Ontario will have a team that doesn't suck like the Leafs.

Seriously, I really do feel sorry for the Coyote fans, as from what I've heard, the fans there really have tried to embrase the team, but if you can't sell out games, or at least fill the seats half way, its too be expected they'd go under. I guess hockey and the Arizona weather don't mix.

You would think that we would want to go to the arena to cool off I am not a hockey fan, even though I grew up in New England and hockey was fairly popular there. I barely even remembered AZ had a team....now I guess I can continue to forget them

Yeah well you're a lot like most people there - most don't know the team exists, and some don't even care that it does. Phoenix averages just over 4000 fans a game; Junior hockey games average more fans then that! Its a sad time for your team, but in the long run, I think its for the best the teams moves to a market that will fully support it.

And yeah, too bad people there don't realize they have a team: be a great place to cool off from the heat down there!

Only 4000 a game? How sad....makes me wonder how they have survived at all.

A team in Hamilton... err... "southern ontario" would be awesome!! But I think the league will block him though. Sad that they would try and keep a team there, when the fans do not care.

ONLY hope is that the other owners are tired of supporting the team in Phoenix and would welcome another cash cow team in "southern ontario".

I think someone said that 75% of revenue comes from the CDN teams [6 of 30]... I may be off on that one though...

I was reading more into it: they've improved considerably, but to date, have not made it to the 1st round of the Playoffs. Take a look at this article, which is actually updating constantly with new information related to the Bankruptcy filing.

After reading this, its no wonder why fans are not showing up: frankly, the management and players suck, with the exception of a few stars. They should move the team back to Winnipeg as I'm sure the city would embrace them again, instead of adding a 3rd team to the Ontario market.
