I tried .234 for 2 days....was sluggish, got the turning clock quite a bit and the browser seemed slow.

and HORRENDOUS battery life. After a 45 minute phone call and a full charge I was down to 50%.

I tried a reflash and tried it for another day....same results.

Sucky battery life, overlapping text on the theme and all around sluggishness had me going back to .210.

I know everyone has different results depending on their handset but I've tried .216, .228 and .234...and I keep coming back to .210.

I haven't had any issues (knock on wood) with .234, but I am watching the battery life. I also seem to recall that phone calls drained the battery more than .210, but with the irregularity of my calls, it's hard to make an accurate observation.

What is the advantage of doing a clean wipe before installing a new OS?

Just did a battery pull and timed how long it took to reboot with .234

1 minute 17 seconds for me.

Finally got .234 loaded up on my Bold. I'll give it a full charge tonight and see how things go from here. This is fun.
Thanks to my 'Berry, I'm only an e-mail away.

4.7 is for the storm. There are many versions of 4.6 for the BOLD. A lot of folks here have found adequate stability with .210.

Ah... ok just because I see others saying you should do a clean wipe before installing a new OS.... I have just been installing the new OS over my old one through DM and don't have any problems, but I thought it may improve performance somehow...

on .234 now and my boot up time is FAR from 28 seconds... I would say just over 1 minute! Everything else is running quite stable.

Wiping before you do an install is only a reccomendation. It's not mandatory before a new OS install. I don't ever do it and I have never really had a problem after installing a different OS. And, a complete restart in just over a minute is great by any BB standards . I normally average just shy over a minute. I've never really timed it I just know the restart is over with in the blink of an eye. I used to own a 8820 before I got my BOLD and I could go to fridge make a sandwich, pour up a beverage and sit back down and it would still be restarting. I am very pleased with the speed of my BOLD's restart. It's just impressive
