Ok so I've got the most recent DM and have installed .415 and deleted the vendor file but am unable to update the phone. I go to app loader, then update software...and it detects .415 as an available update...I select it and hit next but then it says "no update required for device" I never had this problem on the old 8320 which i updated many times without any issues.

EDIT: Nevermind, i discovered that deleting the vendor file was actually the problem. Weird.

    Not weird really.

You only need to delete the vendor.xml file for release versions - not betas.

For release versions you only need delete the vendor.xml file if the vendor is not your phone company.

Hmm, well I think it's weird cuz up until now everyone has ALWAYS said to delete it on official releases or betas and I always have and it always worked...until now. And apparently now it won't work at all if you delete it.

I dont think that everyone has always said that. For example:

"The betas do not require Vendor.XML to be removed."

    Source: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...fications.html

There are plenty more examples too.

The reason is that is an official release, the vendor.xml file is about 150kb and has information about the carrier. On the other hand, the vendor.xml of a beta release has no data and is only about 1kb in size.

    Hope that helps

I found it in the article under the hilighted word link. Are you going to give it a try? I would, but I don't have a 9700

HERE is the link to the .442 dl from zain jordan found on CB. I loaded it last night. Trackpad seems a bit more sensitive and browser seems a bit faster. No real details as to what the actual bug fixes were.

I've only had it on my 9700 for about an hour, but so far it seems very stable and a little faster than .405 that i was running with AT&T.
