You've got a ton of support here, so I wouldn't be too concerned about bricking your device. Granted there are risks involved but in MOST cases, everything goes just fine.

You might want to go here, as this is the easiest way to do a device upgrade. You simply connect your device to the PC and let the upgrade engine do the rest. One piece of advice, though is that if you use a media card, remove it from the device prior to doing your upgrade.

Upgrades can take up to an hour or longer, so just get it started and let it do its thing.

    Cheers,
    Roger

Would rather do it here so that others can benefit from it as well. Ask away!

Second off, will this effect my Fav5's on my t-mobile.
Third, Will there be a program i can download for my berry that is just like colorpearl but free?

    1. No.
    2. I'm an AT&T customer so don't know the answer to that for sure, but my suspicion is that it will not effect your Fav5s.
    3. I am not familiar with the Pearl, so am not sure if colorpearl is compatible with the 4.5 OS as of yet. Should be by now, but someone with a Pearl will have to answer that question.

No, it will definitely not have an effect on your e-mail accounts. When your device reinitializes, service books will be resent and your e-mail accounts will all be back and accounted for.

Just reading over the thread and I DO believe there are updated color pearl apps for the pearl. I'm just not sure if they are free or not.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

the question though i think is which is better for the 8100, 4.2 or 4.5. I also have an 8100 with AT&T, and am pretty happy with 4.2 except for some cool themes I can't use... unfortunately, the 8100 is an older phone compared to the storm and bold, and even the 8120. I have been debating an upgrade to 4.5 for a while . Let me know how it works out for you, smcopey!
