4.5 is worth it. The ability to stream youtube and html emails was convincing enough for me to install 4.5 on my device. I say go for it you will be happy.

Officially done upgrading and to tell you the truth I was scared the whole time. When it was doing the loading thing after the upgrade it took like 45 mins so I was flippin out. But once it was done and loaded up everything was slow. Again I flipped out but after I played with it for like 10 mins it sped up. I love it. Ty guys here at pinstack. I love this site. Can you guys pin my the link for the color ball thing and Ty again.

Toldja it was a piece of cake! Congrats on the successful upgrade, smcopey!

Yes, it can be a litte scary the first time, but I pointed out earlier that it can take up to an hour or longer.

    Congrats again!

Wow, that does sound like an upgrade, although I don't really need/use any of those stereo and streaming upgrades. On the other hand, the spell check would be great. Thanks for that, I think I'm going to have to consider going for it!!

    smcopey,

Check your TCP/APN settings (Options>Advanced Options>TCP) against what you find for your carrier here. If those settings are correct, try changing your browser emulation by opening the browser and going into the configuration settings.

This is what I am running on my AT&T Pearl 8110... Platform: 2.6.0.53 App version 4.3.0.93(164)Do you all suggest that I upgrade? I have no problems the way my Pearl is running/working now. I have done a little research and there are definitely benefits of upgrading to the latest OS. I also heard horror stories about people upgrading their OSs. Do I just follow the instructions above and bingo, I am all set?

Edit: I like the column view set-up on my browser, where I just scroll up and down (no side to side scrolling) to view web pages. Will this stay the same? Any changes to the browser? I don't like cumbersome browers on a small, mobile device.

Well i just updated my pearl and i use my browser quite a bit and i like it. it has a mousse instead of the just scroll up and down which i like. i just updated mine a few days ago and i love it.. trying to convince my friend into it. if you follow the instructions above it should mess up just one this i am gonna say is to be very pacient with it. once everything is complete and you start useing your phone everything will be slow untill you use the app once or twice then everything speeds up...i love the update...

I currently have OS 4.5.0.69 installed on my BB. I've had it since it came out.

What's a better update? The one I have know has a horrible memory leak.

The .124 appears to be the latest and if you don't mind installing an OS not from your carrier that would be where I would go.

I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but I've searched around and didn't see anything.

I'm correct in assuming that installing the new OS does not effect your data plan, right? I don't have to do anything special after re-registering with the network?

Again, sorry if this has already been covered.
