No word on that yet, but you can use any of the carrier OS listed above as long as you delete the vendor.xml file.

Follow the How To thread posted in the OP above.

I'm following the update instructions you linked to but Desktop Manager doesn't recognize that there is an upgrade available. I have deleted vendor.xml but I can't get any further.

    Suggestions?

    Device: 8820
    Current OS: 4.2.2.169
    Upgrading to: PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81
    Desktop Manager: 4.7.0.32
    Windows OS: XP Pro

    Thanks!!

Try going to c/program files/common files/research in motion/app loader and clicking on the loader file. If that doesn't work I would suggest removing DM 4.7 and going with an older DM.

Thanks, ModernCowboy! Great minds think alike. I tried the loader file...no worky. Then I found another thread that suggested an older desktop manager so I downloaded 4.6 and uninstalled everything and started fresh with that version of DM. It seems to be seeing the update now.

However, it hasn't requested my password...is it going to lock up my phone?

It shouldn't but since I have never used passwords I can't honestly say. Maybe someone else has a better answer.

Well, everything went swimmingly with my 8820 and now I'm trying to upgrade my wife's 8800...and it is doing the exact same thing mine was doing before I switched from DM 4.7 to 4.6. Do I need to remove the 8820 loader before installing the 8800 loader?

edit...removed 8800 and 8820 loaders and reinstalled 8800 loader. No go.

    I updated my BB 8820 to 8820M_PBr4.5.0_rel152_PL2.7.0.90_A4.5.0.110_AT&T

Now I notice a delay when receiving calls or connecting to voice mail? What I mean is when calling my BB from my landline phone I hear 4+ rings before my BB acknowledges a call coming in. Same thing with voice mail. The voice mail system doesnt answer for 20+ seconds. This is at&t service located in SE Michigan, I will try different towers and report back.

OK... Seems like the delay problem was intermittent and localized to my general location. The delays cleared up when I drove to a different area.

The operating systems are device specific the 8820 upgrade will NOT work for the 8800.
