Charges pending after woman accused of Blackberry phone theft turns herself

Dailypress: Investigators in York County say they have identified a woman captured on a security camera stealing a $200 Blackberry cell phone left by another customer at a checkout counter, just hours after releasing video images.

Sgt. Dennis Ivey of the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Department said the owner of the phone was shopping at the Food Lion on Merrimac Trail on Dec. 28 when he set the phone down at the checkout line. Surveillance images appear to show the customer behind him - a woman in her late 30s or early 40s - picking up the phone and putting it in her back pocket.

Interesting!!! It pays to have a belt clip and put phone in clip when needed. I left my curve at a Bennihanas one night after dinner, and we were the last ones in there. I didn't realize I left it till we were a few blocks away! Needless to say, I drove 100mph back there, and banged on the front door till someone came and unlocked it. I found my baby on the floor!!!!! She hasn't quite forgiven me for that incident.

A buddy of mine had his BB stolen right off a table at a Casino and you know what they told him when he asked for there help (cause they obviously have cameras)? That they don't go back on the cameras unless it is there own stuff stolen.

That pisses me off to the max. I still have the PIN # and IMEI for the BB, I would love to trace it to find out who's using it now.

Never put your BB down - anywhere except in your own purse, pocket or holster. This falls under the "if it isn't nailed down, somebody will...." theory.

Stealing of any kind should carry a serious punishment but death is a little severe. For a conviction I'd rather see the word "thief" branded on their forehead and, maybe in this case, "BB" branded in front of it.

OK you guys win. Branded or tattooed and her hands cut off so she can't five-finger anything again.

I think a tattoo IS a little more humane and better anyway and I'd go for that - anything that's permanent....and, as part of their conviction/sentence they would have to pay for it and it HAS to be block print letters, meet the minimum size requirements and be a dark color. (I'll also serve on the committee to define it if necessary. Justice is harsh at PS.com. )
