Question Can't backup anymore - device resets every time

    VZW 8330 - Running OS 4.5.0.56

I'm trying to upgrade to the latest released version of 4.5. I figured I'd backup the device first. Every time I perform a backup, it get's to the end of the backup and the blackberry reboots. I'm running desktop 4.6. I've tried it with desktop 4.5 and 4.3 with the same problem.

I've formated the SD card, cleared the browser cache, and even tried to backup individual databases which work sometimes... other times the same thing happens and it isn't consistent on which database it happens on.

I'm stuck. I've tried the upgrade anyway and the first thing it does is a backup which results in the same issue.

    Thoughts?

^^Try doing the backup "Without" the sd card inserted and see if that helps.

Try doing a Selective backup using DM. This way you can target exactly what area of your backup is causing your BB to reboot and troubleshoot from there.

I've tried that. Weird, it works sometimes and fails sometimes. Even tried individual files. I thought it might be a file size issue.

I split the list in half to try and isolate a database... very odd

I have been trying to upgrade for the past few hours but it keeps freezing up...earlier it froze on backing up my game, now it is frozen on connecting to the phone....and it stays frozen for more than half an hour until I unplug the phone and wait for ctrl+alt+delete to cancel everything. Any idea why it's doing this and how do I stop it?

Don't worry about updating your OS. What you need to do is download and install the OS onto your PC, so the Desktop Manager has a base with which to work. Once you have the OS loaded on your PC, you'll be able to load themes, applications, etc via the Desktop Manager.

Once you have the OS on your PC, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader and delete the vendor.xml file.
