    Question 7290 Handheld 4.1 upgrade.

    Hi All.

    Firstly top site.

I am trying to upgrade my Blackberry 7290 OS v4.0 to v4.1, with Orange Netherlands as the provider.

My company runs BES 4.0 with the Orange tweeks and remote stuff.

I have followed the threads, but still having issues tryin to upgrade.

My biggest problem is trying to find the vendor.xml file.

I am running Windows XP with Desktop v4.1 and downloaded the appropriate exe file for my carrier.

Whe I search vendor.xml, it cannot be found, and if I search the C: I have the following.

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion and then in that folder I only have Blackberry as a file then in that folder I have no AppLoader folder.

    Anyone help?

Be certain you back-up, just in case... Always nice to have a working back up!

Now, I am not on BES, I have BIS. When my browser takes a vacation I got to Options, Advanced Options, Host Routing Table, in there get the menu and select Register Now. Basiclly getting the service books resent.

I upgraded mine yesterday to 4.1 (Cingular) and it went well. There was a list of about eight operation the upgrade was doing (a backup was one) and when finished all works well and eveything is still there. It kept all my settings for the Blackberry server at Texas Tech where I work. Have a great day all.

So when you did the upgrade it kept all of your email settings? I am thinking about upgrading to 4.1, but I am trying to make sure that it will keep all of the settings for receiving my email from the company. Not sure if the IT guys would be happy with me for upgrading.

    Re: 7290 Handheld 4.1 upgrade.

Just upgraded my 7290 with 4.1. I also downloaded a couple of themes and I'm using "lightwave". Since I did both, I get this message serveral times a day:

    Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException [OK]

It's not blocking since I can confirm the [OK]. But does anyone know how I can get rid of the message and/or why I get it?

    Re: 7290 Handheld 4.1 upgrade.

Do you think that it is the theme??? Try uninstalling the theme and reloading the device. Also, try powering down, removing the battery and trying again.
