7100g to 7100x Housing Swap Guide

Here it is. It is not too bad if you follow the instructions.

Tools Needed: 7100x Housing, T6 screwdriver, Exacto Knife, Blade or Small flathead screwdriver, Blowdryer or heat gun.

    Estimated Time:15-20 minutes

Step 1: Remove Battery Door, battery and SIM card.

Step 2: Heat Silver strip on back, for about 20 to 30 seconds, to remove and expose 2 screws. Use Exacto Knife, Blade or Small flat head screwdriver to help pry it away from housing.
    Step 3: Remove 4 screws (2 top, 2 bottom) with T6 screwdriver.

Step 4: Pull case apart (there are little tabs on the inside parts, I just forgot to take pics). Take the electronics out of the housing. At this point you can used canned air if you would like to clean dust/lint out of the “brain”.

Step 5: Transfer keypad , “brains”, and top button to new housing.

Step 6: Snap on back and front cover and then screw back together. Step 7: Put in SIM card, Battery and battery door.
    Step 8 ENJOY!
7100x housing and tool can be purchased from http://www.bbrepairshop.com Plus pinstackers get %10 off orders.
Note. Be gentle when loosening and tightening the screws. They can strip if you are a knuckle head like me and insist that they be tightened up TOO much.

    Finished product:

No not yet. You can try getting a second 7100i housing and painting it black.

For all that are interested I found a site that you can design all color housing for your BB...I don't know if I m allowed to post the site...I design my own there, but kinda nervous to go through changing the color of the bb. click on PDA/electronic Organizer then select the series of BB you have and have fun!!

If you can find the 7105t case.

This swap is good for the 7100 g,v,x models. Maybe if you got an unlocked 7100g you could do this swap.

THis would probably be a better choice if you want to keep any warranty you may have and also finding a casing from a dummy phone or another phone can get expensive even on ebay!
