~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Well I guess I'll be the first to report. Been running the beta 4.6.1.133 for approx 5 hours and been using the BB how I usually do. This OS have improved the battery life greatly I mean night and day difference. After 5 hours of web browsing using WiFi, BBM, MSN a few emails and calls. My battery is down just 2 bars. Usually it would be down to about 2, 2 and a half bars. The camera is all so snappier. Browser speed remains the same. Oh and my ring tone volume has also significantly increased.

Hi - excuse my ignorance, I am not very tech-savvy and am a new user of the 8900 as of mid January. Can someone please explain to me why, if these new operating system upgrades are so good, they are not being released officially ? Why does the Desktop Manager not find and install them automatically when it connects to the web ? My 8900 came with .101. I have had appalling battery life issues with the 8900 since acquiring it - I am tempted to blame it on the standard sleeve/pouch issued in the UK - so any upgrade that improves battery life would be welcome. However, I am nervous about installing something that is not "officially" available. I am grateful in advance for clarification on this. |

I think the OS has been pulled as nothing is listed for and 8900 on this site!

Osprey- I've had the pearl, cuve, bold and the javelin now and all my bb's hv been running on beta os's only. The beta releases are offerred to different operators by RIM and its for these operators to release them to customers. The operators run extensive tests to these os's before they release to customers and hence the delay. Yes there are some risks of installing beta os's but thnx to pinstack, you will immediately know of problems if there are any by others who have installed before u. The latest beta os 4.6.1.133 for 8900 significantly increases battery life and also fixes the screen flicker issue. I have already installed it and am very happy with it. Google for it and you will find it. Installing it is relatively easy and you will find step by step instructions right here on pinstack. Enjoy upgrading via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

You CAN post another link as long as youre not linking to the file itself. Meaning link to another forum which itself links to the webpage hosting the file. Got it ? For more information read the forum rules included in my signature. Cheers |
