Does RIM's data compression for the BB hinder those speeds at all?

it doesnt hinder them lol it's what makes a EDGE blackberry access the internet faster than a 3G one.
My Javelin, Flip or Storm KILL my Bold speed test wise as well as day to day browsing.
The only time the Bold kills them all is when it comes down to tethering. But like i said the Edge speed is way enough for me when i tether as I usually have my 3G usb stick on me anyways.

Yes, sorry, but the test is quite useless for Blackberrys. It doesn't understand that BB data goes through RIM's proxy servers that strip out all sorts of stuff that the BB can't use anyway. It recons my GPRS (not even EDGE) service is running at 1.76Mbps. *40Kbps* odd would be doing well LOL!!

It may be that the 8900 makes better use of the AVAILABLE bandwidth than a Bold, but 400Kbps isn't possible, even on EDGE. The test is BROKEN.
