    Re: Who is my PROVIDER?

Load any provider's 8700 OS on it. Once loaded press ALT+shift+h at the same time. At the top of the resulting screen will be the Vendor ID.

That will tell you who the original vendor was. Won't necessarily tell you who she has an account with though.

    Hope this helps.

look on the SIM card and see if it says the carrier name (if it uses one).

Does she know who she writes a check to every month? Something here doesn't make sense.

Not necessarily. Several carriers use the 8700g (not all GSM carriers are in the US).

That can't be right. DM isn't device-specific. Did you delete the vendor.xml file (use Windows search to locate it) with DM closed before you tried updating the OS on the device?

I would say look at the bottom of the device. Usually it has the carrier branding. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Not necessarily true, while DM is not device specific, an older version of DM will not necessarily support a newer device. If I remember right this was the case with some versions of DM 4.0.x and the 8700.

    Hope this helps.
