~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I have a week old 8700g, having moved from a Treo 650, which I was happy with. I have had mainly good experiences but for a few websites I had to download Opera Mini which also operates quite well.

I surf all the time. If a website doesn't work well on the BB Browsesr I try the google site to get to it or use Opera Mini. Haven't really found anything I want to get too and can not.

Question Re: Web Browsing on the Blackberry 8700g

Could you tell me more about the Opera Mini that is mentioned in your post?
(I have the 8700 c, by the way -- and love it!)
    Thanks,

    Cliff

Its just a program you download. You can get it OTA. Its a browser, but the interface is not as user friendly as BB browser, so I use it for what I can't get on the BB Browser. It is free. Give it a try.

    OTA - http://mini.opera.com

Go to www.opera.com for info to get it via the PC.

Thanks. (This is going to sound really dumb... but... what is "OTA"?)

Over the Air - means you can download directly to the BB from the web. You don't need to connect the BB to your PC and use Desktop Manager.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

If you are looking for a device soley for the use of browsing, I would suggest a Treo-ish device. Something with touch-screen capabilities.

However, if you want an all around device I would suggest the Blackberry.

I use to have a Treo 700p but I sold it. I was going to get an MDA but decided on the 8700g.

I'm loving browsing on the web with my 8700g it's a faster device then my previous BB's and with Edge it's even faster and thank goodness for Mini Opera, I can access all the sites so far that I need.

Sorry, silly me. I like my my abreviations. I love Opera. Gives the BB a little extra umph for web browsing. If only it was a little friendlier interface.

Re: Web Browsing on the Blackberry 8700g

Yeah the Opera interface is NOT very intuitive as it takes quite the number of clicks to accomplish anything. That said, however, it does render pages more accurately then the built in browser and as a result is an indispensable BB app.

As to browsing on the 8700g, I love it!!! With T-Mobile's EDGE network the web pages load quite rapidly and navigating the pages with the scroll wheel is a breeze. In addition I have set up my laptop to use the 8700g as a modem and get very respectable speeds, somewhere in the neighborhood of 85k up and down, for true mobile computing.
