Re: Want to downgrade my 8700c from 4.2 to 4.1

    Hey guys,
I'm interested in this Vodafone 4.2 software but I'm not able to find it. On the blackberryfaq.com site above I checked the Vodafone UK link for my 8700 and it only has version 4.1. There's a version 4.2 for 8707 but I only have an 8700, will it still work?

EDIT: Would the Rogers Wireless 4.2.1.163 be better?

    Thanks,
    Dan

First place to check is your service provider -- there's really little to no difference between the 4.2 OSs out there now, and 4.2 is so common even T-Mobile has it available at their site (Milagro!!!). We had to go to Vodafone and other alternative sources when 4.2 was new and rare - but I'm thinkin' you should be able to get a version at your service provider's website.

Can the vodafone OS be loaded onto the Verizon 8703e as well?

Probably. The blackberry.alx that comes with voda's 4.2 has coding for Verizon, including their sound package and their theme. Other experts here at Pinstack tell us that it can't be done, and they are at a high enough expertise that I'd be afraid to tell you definitely yes. So I say it probably can be done, but I probably wouldn't try it and I advise you to not try it either. However, the Verizon 4.2 that is on their 8703 is comparable to Voda's 4.2, so I don't think it would be worth the effort anyway
